Face of Fall

Fall has arrived, the sun has retreated behind the ever persisted layer of clouds, and the rain is back to its usual presence. But just because the leaves are falling off doesn't mean your skin has to take a turn for the worse. Can we talk about seasonal skincare changes, for just a second? Though it might seem like the last on your list of to-do's, I've personally discovered the tremendous benefits of paying a little extra attention to your skin at this time of year. Your tan is surely fading, or if you're like me, your freckles are fading, too. And without a tan, your skin's imperfections can quickly become more apparent.

In addition to gathering my fall/winter necessities like boots and a good coat, I decided a skin pick-me-up was just as necessary.

I chose the new Tulasara Facial by Aveda at Eccotique Spa, which turned out to be the most effective, interesting, and satisfying facials I've ever had. The technique is a lot different than what you're used to, combining the traditional facial techniques with facial dry brushing to drain toxins, as well as a massage focused on your area of choice – which for me was an easy choice, since I carry my stress in my shoulders and neck.

I found myself more relaxed and immediately more radiant after the customized facial; the specialist pinpointed my exact needs just by asking me a few questions, and soon had my dermis buffed and glowing, ridding my skin of the buildup that had occurred over the lax-exfoliation months of summer.

Now, with my skin back on track and my other fall necessities in check, I could not feel more prepared for winter – and hopefully a sunny getaway. Here's to putting the best face of fall forward.
