Eat + Sleep Budapest
In addition to the best sites of Budapest, which you can read about in this blog post, you might also be wondering about where to eat and sleep. Wonder no more, I've got the best places for you below. Sleep: Kempinski Budapest
The moment we checked into the Kempinski Hotel, I knew this experience in Budapest was going to be unlike all the others. The modern lobby and friendly, swift welcome made way to a spacious, upscale room that looked out to my favorite building in Budapest, St. Stephen's Basilica.
And, since it's often the little perks that really make an experience, I now realize what my favorite part of staying at the hotel Kempinski was: the morning buffet, where we got to choose whether we wanted to sit indoor or outdoor in the on-site restaurant, and the afternoon swim/sauna in the hotel's wonderful spa. The central location made for a quick get-around of Budapest too, and before I knew it, I was reacclimatized to the city I love so very much.
There are many amazing places to eat in Budapest, but in order to avoid the tourist-trap restaurants (with prices much higher than need-be) I recommend trying the following if you're stumped for where to eat in Budapest:
Gelarto Rosa is still my favorite gelato spot, because well, the gelato looks just as good as it tastes. There are now 2 locations right beside St. Stephen's Basilica, which makes for a really great backdrop for your drool-worthy photography.
Private Dining Experience at Zoltan 18
Friends of mine from Vancouver are currently residing in Budapest, and running a private dining experience kitchen called Zoltan 18. Located literally at "Zoltan Utca 18" in a boroque-style apartment building in the heart of Budapest, you'll be wowed by their 5-course meals (wine pairings included) by the wonderful chef Anatoli Belov. I highly recommend this experience on your next trip to Budapest, which is much more than a meal but a cultivated treasure that will light palette (and inner socialite) aflame.
Visit them here to see when their next dinner is being held.
Liszt Ferenc Ter
Liszt Ferenc Ter is not a place in particular, but a street off of Andrassy Ut where you can find quite a few great little bistros. Many of these spots have 2 or 3 course lunch deals for around 1500 HUF (or about $6 CAD).
